The University of Cincinnati is currently accepting applications for a Director, Business Affairs. The Director of Business Affairs is an integral member of College of Nursing's senior leadership team and acts as the Chief Financial Officer for the College of Nursing (CON). The Director of Business Affairs reports directly to the Dean of CON and has a dotted line reporting relationship to the Associate Senior Vice President for Academic Affairs.
The Director of Business Affairs position is responsible for the day-to-day operations, long-term fiscal planning and compliance of the College of Nursing. The Director of Business Affairs carries responsibility for all financial and personnel operations of the college. The financial structure of the college is complex and includes management of general and designated funds as well as an array of endowments. Primary areas of responsibility include but are not limited to annual, triennial budget formulation and implementation for all of CON; assumes ownership of all Performance Based Budgeting (PBB) process for the College (including forecasting), academic program cost analysis, space and resource management; maintaining standard reports showing recent expenditures and current balances available for upcoming operations; monitoring and overseeing budgets as needed (including but not limited to receipt and distribution of gift revenues, general and designated funds); overseeing funding and spending compliance for academic and administrative units; working in conjunction with Deans and department heads to ensure fiscal compliance with federal, state and UC policies and procedures; developing and implementing policies and procedures to ensure compliance. The Director of Business Affairs will be responsible for providing leadership, mentorship and oversight of Business Office personnel. The Director of Business Affairs assists the Dean, faculty and staff in the development of entrepreneurial and revenue generating activities.
Job Description: Professional employees that have responsibility for the administration and direction of all aspects of a large multi-functional department; assessment, evaluation, and implementation of major programs and projects; development and communication of policies and procedures; management, planning, and organization of multi-functional staff efforts. Responsible for the development and control of substantial departmental budgets and resources.
Minimum Qualifications: Master's degree with 7 years experience; OR Bachelor's degree with 9 years experience; OR associate degree with 11 years experience; OR 13 years experience. Degree must be in Business Administration or related field. Financial and administrative experience is required and must include 3 years supervision.
Position Qualification: Financial, administrative and strategic planning experience is required and must include 3 years supervision. Preference will be given to those who hold an MBA (or higher) with 7 years of experience at minimum. Expertise in financial planning of logistically complex projects for regional and global deployment is highly desirable.
Ideal Qualifications: Experience and expertise with executive business negotiations within a regional and global context is very desirable. Preference for experience leading and managing the budget/fiscal aspects of a hospital or other healthcare business. Experience writing grants and grant expertise is highly desirable, along with knowledge of university policies and procedures.
