California State University, Sacramento, seeks applications for a specialist in public relations for a tenure-track appointment as an assistant professor to start during the Fall 2014 semester. 

 

Candidates must possess an M.A., M.S., or Ph.D. Communication Studies with emphasis in public relations or allied field. Candidates must be able to teach survey, theory, and practicum courses in public relations.  Expertise in issue management/crisis communication or public relations theory and research is desirable.  Interest in and the ability to conduct scholarly or applied research is required.  Supervision of students in upper division client based courses desired. Advising of PRSSA desired.

 

Prior professional employment in public relations and college-level teaching desired. Preference will be given to candidates who have worked with or shown promise with diverse groups.

 

Duties include providing curricular leadership in public relations and teaching introductory and upper-division courses.  Faculty will be expected to advise students; engage in scholarly activities; and provide service to the department, campus, and community.
