MUSIC DIRECTOR AND CONDUCTOR OF SPIRIT BANDS- Missouri Western State University seeks a creative, innovative and enthusiastic individual for the position of Music Director and Conductor of Spirit Bands Marching Band and Pep Band. This position serves as the principal recruiter for bands and will collaborate with other music faculty members in recruiting both music majors and non-music majors for the applied instrumental area. Teaching assignment may include marching band techniques, instrumental conducting, instrumental methods/literature courses, applied studio or other areas of expertise. Administrative duties include band equipment inventory and maintenance; management of instrumental scholarships with the supervision of the Chair of the Department of Music; and building and maintaining a strong relationship with secondary school instrumental music teachers and programs. REQUIRED: Masters degree, expertise and experience in directing a marching band at the secondary school or university level; good organizational skills; and demonstrated evidence of success in teaching and conducting. PREFERRED: Ph.D. or DMA.  The appointment will be made as an instructor or a tenure-track assistant professor, dependent on the candidates qualifications.
