California State Polytechnic University, Pomona, is seeking a talented and accomplished educator who is passionate about educational equity and student success. The successful candidate will fill the position of Executive Director, Student Support and Equity Programs.
Under the general direction of the Associate Vice President for Student Services in the Student Affairs Division, the Executive Director leads, manages and directs Student Support and Equity Programs which was created through the consolidation of Educational Equity Services, the University Advising Center and the Renaissance Scholars Program. The Executive Director participates in institutional planning and policy formulation, and serves as a consultant to the broader campus community on issues related to educational equity and student learning, retention and success. The incumbent establishes unit goals and priorities, conceptualizes and develops new programs to enhance students educational and social experiences, determines the direction of program growth and change, formulates operational guidelines and procedures, and oversees a wide array of services (including outreach, admission assistance, Summer Bridge, Transfer Bridge, supplemental financial aid, academic advising, peer mentoring, tutoring and learning assistance, developmental courses, student activities, and post-baccalaureate planning) designed to meet the needs of approximately 2,000 undergraduates participating in the Educational Opportunity Program (EOP) and undeclared student program. The Executive Director plans and manages a $1.2 million general fund budget, collaborates with lead staff and Financial Aid to manage an $832,000 student aid budget, and augments existing resources by securing grants and extramural funding. The incumbent supervises 20 staff members, various graduate interns, and a cadre of student employees, and fosters a strong service orientation through staff training, development and performance management.
Candidates must possess an earned doctorate from a regionally accredited institution, though individuals who have an appropriate masters degree and extensive related experience will be considered AND at least five years of successful experience overseeing programs and services for such diverse populations as low-income, underrepresented, undeclared, high-achieving and first-generation college students, as well as current and former foster youth.
