GENERAL DUTIES

-        Provides design and production expertise for College publications, written materials, and multi-media communications.

-        Works with department and other College administrators to assess departmental publication needs and determine appropriate production and design elements

-        Participates in planning communications messages, graphic elements, and formats appropriate to client requirements

-        Manages production schedules and budgets, coordinating production activities with internal and external personnel

-        Plans and implements on-line and multimedia communications, coordinating with Information Technology professionals as needed

-        Supervises staff both creative and production staff; works with College print shop, computer center, and other departments to ensure support of college publication needs

-        May oversee equipment inventories and coordinate maintenance of specialized equipment and technology

-        Develops production workflows, policies and standards, and assures adherence to any internal or external communications standards

-        Performs related duties as assigned.

CAMPUS SPECIFIC INFORMATION

The Communications Publications Design Specialist will serve as a liaison between internal university clients and outside vendors for a wide-range of printed projects such as bulletins, magazines, brochures, invitations, posters, and digital projects including e-vites and e-newsletters. The position is responsible for scheduling, trafficking, and managing projects from concept through delivery. In addition to the general duties, the successful candidate will:

-        Manage a wide-range of print and digital projects from concept through delivery.

-        Collaborate with the Business Office on the bidding process for printers and other vendors.

-        Assist with vendor invoice processing.

-        Manage relationships with existing vendors and cultivate relationships with new ones.

-        Schedule projects with clients, designers, editors, and vendors to ensure timely completion.

-        Provide quality control by reviewing and approving designer and printer proofs.

-        Conduct press checks.

-        Coordinate fulfillment and mailing of projects.

-        Create weekly status reports.

-        Maintain organized electronic and paper archives of projects.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Bachelor's Degree and four years' related experience required.

 

OTHER QUALIFICATIONS

- Print and digital project management expertise - Experience in purchasing printing and design services - Ability to handle multiple tasks and meet tight deadlines - Strong communication and interpersonal skills - Easily adaptable and attentive to detail - Knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite and Microsoft Office

 

COMPENSATION

$42,873 - $74,133
