Vice Dean of Education

Drexel University College of Medicine, a premier academic medical education and research institution in Philadelphia, seeks a dynamic and scholarly leader for the position of Vice Dean for Educational and Academic Affairs. The Vice Dean will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of the undergraduate medical education program leading to the MD degree, creating new and innovative experiences for our students, and enhancing educational scholarship within the school. With over 1000 medical students, and a similar number of PhD, Masters, and Professional Studies students, the College of Medicine has a reputation for innovation in medical and graduate education and for producing outstanding clinicians, scientists, and professionals prepared for today's challenges. The College recently received full accreditation from the LCME noting a number of strengths including our commitment to our 25 clinical campuses (currently including four regional campuses), our fourth year "Pathway" advising program, and a comprehensive process for the evaluation of our education program. Currently the College is undertaking a comprehensive review of its undergraduate medical educational program and is seeking to position itself as a leader in medical education known for training physicians who are prepared for the coming changes in healthcare and the practice of medicine. In 2014, the College will complete its merger with and be fully integrated into Drexel University, ranked by U.S. News and World Report as one of the best universities in the nation and "Up-and-Coming" in 2013. The successful candidate will possess an M.D. degree and will have demonstrated success in the development, implementation, and evaluation of innovative, future-oriented undergraduate medical education curricula. In addition, candidates must have outstanding skills for building relationships, communicating effectively, inspiring others, and demonstrated accomplishments in working with diverse constituencies.
