Position Announcement


The Assistant Director of the Center for Social Impact (CSI) manages many of the operations of the CSI and provides support to and assessment of programs, initiatives, and collaborations that provide students with a range of meaningful social impact learning experiences and skills that are applicable to their personal and professional lives. Under the direction of the director, this position oversees financial management, program assessment, promotion, university compliance, personnel management, asset management, and strategized for growth. The assistant director also advises three student leaders and develops relationships with key CSI stakeholders.

Summary of Responsibilities


  • Operations
  • Performs all necessary center administration including financial management, branding, communications, university compliance (purchasing, travel, risk management, IT, grants, etc.), personnel management (hiring, training, weekly meetings, team building, performance reviews, required HR trainings, etc.), and asset management (physical space, furniture, computers and technology, software, resources, materials, etc.).
  • Meets all university requirements, approvals, reports, etc.
  • Strategizes with director for growth in funding, resources, and personnel.
  • Impact Fellows (3): Strategy Fellows
  • Serve as Systems Thinking and Design + Evaluation Impact Fellows' advisor
  • Provide support to events, programs, and experiences
  • Leadership
  • Collaborate as CSI leadership on strategy and planning
  • Supervise administrative assistant and Impact Associates (student employees)
  • Act in place of director, when needed
  • Program Support and Assessment
  • Create and manage effective systems for successful program execution and sustainability
  • Manage the tracking of assessment data
  • Conduct assessment to evaluate effectiveness of programs/events
  • Relationship Management
  • Collaborate on developing and maintaining strategic on-campus relationships with various CSI stakeholders, including administrators, colleges/schools/departments, faculty members, etc.
  • Create opportunities for students to network with social impact professionals
  • Find ways to connect alumni to current students, CSI, and community
  • Carry out other duties necessary to the success of the programs and other projects within the Center for Social Impact, including assisting in executing events and office support


Minimum Qualifications

  • Graduation from an accredited college or university with a bachelor's degree in management or a directly related field and two years' experience related to the Summary of Duties or a combination of education and/or experience totaling six years.

  • Proficiency in stated knowledge, skills, and abilities.

    Preferred Qualifications:
  • Master's degree in public administration, business/management, operations/analytics, or higher education leadership is preferred.
  • Four or more years of experience in higher education, community engaged learning, nonprofit work, community development, student leadership development, or related field.
  • Experience in multiple pathways of social impact (Direct Service, Community Engaged Learning & Research, Social Entrepreneurship & Corporate Social Responsibility, Policy & Governance, Community Organizing & Activism, and Philanthropy)

    Knowledge:
  • A knowledge of and commitment to social impact and civic engagement work
  • An understanding of the trends, challenges, and nuances to social impact work
  • A knowledge of systems thinking, equity-centered design, community outreach, community development, and student leadership programs
  • A knowledge of the social impact pathways (Direct Service, Community Engaged Learning & Research, Social Entrepreneurship & Corporate Social Responsibility, Policy & Governance, Community Organizing & Activism, and Philanthropy)
  • Experience with systems thinking, equity-centered design, community outreach, community development, and student leadership programs
