PURPOSE
The Assistant Director for Orientation and Student Transition Programs assists in the overall coordination and execution of programs and events designed to provide transition and yield activities for first-time freshmen and transfer students. This includes orientation, dual/concurrent enrollment, yield event participation, and other activities which support outreach to prospective students.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Functional Area 1: Orientation Programs
Percent Effort 35%
- Coordinate the planning and executing freshman, transfer, or
other organized orientation or transition programs (veterans,
international, etc).
- Oversee the planning and execution of logistical operations for
each planned event.
- Assist in the development and maintenance of standard operating
practices and procedures (including documented record keeping) on
behalf of the Office of Orientation.
- Hire, train, oversee, and evaluate student workers and student
orientation leaders.
- Initiate, execute, and/or oversee the execution of all
purchases related to new student orientation.
Functional Area 2: Transition Programs
Percent Effort 25%
- Serves as primary point of contact for Islander Academy dual
enrollment program and any concurrent enrollment programs for high
school students.
- Communicate with institutions and participants for all dual and
concurrent enrollment programs.
- Create participant handbook and coordinate
orientation/transition programs designed to provide ease of entry
and facilitation of services for all student
participants.
- Work with admission, advising, and registration personnel to
ensure initial application, processing, ongoing academic
counseling, and registration.
- Conduct presentations to interest groups as
necessary.
- Facilitate ongoing contractual (MOU) negotiation and
maintenance related to Islander Academy Dual Credit/Enrollment
Program. This includes ensuring renewal and redesign
processes.
Functional Area 3: Communication Activities
Percent Effort: 15
- Facilitates the overall maintenance of the orientation page on
the TAMUCC website. This shall include cooperation and
collaboration with university website regulations and procedures
developed by MARCOM.
- Communicate with prospective students relative to orientation
and organized transition programs.
- Create and maintain strategic outreach campaigns relative to
orientation and organized transition programs.
- Assist in the development and production of marketing materials
related to orientation and organized transition
programs.
Functional Area 4: Outreach & Yield
Percent Effort: 15
- Attend and help facilitate recruitment, yield, and outreach
programs as needed.
- Facilitate presentations as needed at recruitment, yield, and
outreach programs.
- Assist areas in the Division of Enrollment Management as needed
to support overall goals and objectives related to transition
programs in the student enrollment life cycle.
Functional Area 5: Other Duties
Percent Effort: 10%
- All other duties as assigned by the Vice President for
Enrollment Management, the Special Assistant to the Vice President,
or their designees.
WHAT YOU WILL NEED
- Bachelor's degree.
- Six (6) years of experience in marketing, communications,
student engagement, recruitment, or related field.
- Experience in working with event planning.
- Proficiency in modern computer programs
- Strong organizational ability: ability to work independently as
needed
- Willingness to travel and work non-traditional
hours.

SALARY $46,000 - $54,000 (Salary dependent upon education and experience)
