Position Summary:
IdahoSTARS is a statewide program funded by Idaho Department of Health and Welfare-Block Grant, designed to assist parents by offering child care referrals and information about quality child care settings as well as to assist child care providers with a variety of professional development opportunities and resources.
Responsible for assuring that the assigned regional office staff meet the goals of the IdahoSTARS program.
- Oversight of their assigned region including
- Daily on-site supervision of regional office staff
- Ensuring adherence to established processes and procedures
- Providing consultation services (site visits) to child care providers
- Providing technical assistance to child care providers and utilizing an early childhood coaching approach
- Recruiting IdahoSTARS qualified trainers to participate in the Idaho STARS training system
- Providing resources to child care providers and registry participants
- Providing leadership in the development and completion of community outreach events and opportunities in order to increase awareness of the value of quality care and education.

Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Early childhood education, Elementary education, Child Development or Bachelor Degree with at least 36 Early Childhood Education (ECE) related college credits.
- A preschool teacher
- Child care provider
- Child care director or
- educator of children in a childcare or elementary setting
At least two years of experience in each of the remaining categories:
- Conducting adult workshops and trainings - small and large groups
- Interpreting federal or state regulations/guidelines
- Managing office budgets
- Use of computers and software for email, scheduling, word processing, data organization, and research
Preferred Qualifications:
Education:
- Master’s Degree in Early Childhood Education, Elementary, Child Development, or any master’s degree with at least 30 Early Childhood Education (ECE) related credits.
Experience:
- Coaching in an Early Childhood setting
- Leading or Directing and early care and education program
- Possess a good understanding of the written and spoken English and Spanish languages utilizing appropriate grammar and accurate spelling
- Conducting independent research
- Supervising adults and managing staff
- Serving as a liaison with customer/provider groups
- Gathering, assembling, correlating, and analyzing facts
- Devising solutions to problems
- Writing concise reports
Ability to:
- Maintain a high level of confidentiality
- Use correct spelling, punctuation, and grammar in composing written statements
- Manage a variety of projects simultaneously
- Portray a professional demeanor
Knowledge of:
- IdahoSTARS and the Idaho Child Care Program
- Quality inclusive child care and developmentally appropriate practices
