Department of Health and Physical Education

Position: The Department of Health and Physical Education at Indiana University of Pennsylvania invites applications for a full-time tenure-track faculty position in Exercise Science to begin fall semester of 2014. A competitive salary is offered with excellent benefits.

Responsibilities: The successful candidate will have expertise to teach both undergraduate and graduate-level exercise science courses and other courses in support of the department. Additionally, the candidate will be expected to provide a leadership role in the exercise science track and participate in departmental programs and research activities. Teaching assignments will be made at the discretion of the Department Chair. Other responsibilities will include advising students, serving on departmental, college, and university committees, and other scholarly and service activities typically expected of university faculty. The successful candidate may be assigned to perform work at off-campus sites and/or provide undergraduate and graduate instruction through distance education.

Qualifications: Earned doctoral degree (Ph.D., or Ed.D.) in kinesiology, exercise physiology or equivalent degree is required. Demonstrated commitment to pursuing an active research agenda is required. Candidate must communicate effectively and perform well during the interviews, which may include a teaching demonstration.

Preferred Qualifications:  A record of published research and current certification by ACSM, NSCA, NASM or ACE. Experience teaching undergraduate and graduate courses and demonstrated involvement in professional organizations. Academic or professional experience in one of the following areas: Strength and Conditioning, Club Fitness, Corporate fitness, Chronic Disease or Aging. Demonstrated recent productivity in the field measured by publications, presentations and grants.
