The University of California, Riverside (UCR) invites inquiries, nominations and expressions of interest for the leadership position of Dean of the Graduate School of Education (GSOE). The UCR GSOE is a nationally recognized school that has been at the forefront of research, education, training and public service in the diverse Southern California region. Under the new leadership of Chancellor Kim Wilcox, UCR is pursuing an ambitious period of growth and expansion, exemplified by the new Schools of Medicine and Public Policy. The GSOE will play an integral role in enhancing the institutions academic excellence and attaining the profile of AAU research universities, as articulated in the campus strategic plan, UCR 2020
One of 10 universities within the prestigious University of California system, UCR is as one of the most ethnically diverse research universities in the nation. The campus is a living laboratory for the exploration of issues critical to growing communities, including air, water, energy, transportation, politics, the arts, history, culture, healthcare and education.
The GSOE offers doctoral programs in five broad areas: Education, Society, and Culture; Educational Psychology; Higher Education Administration and Policy; School Psychology and Special Education. The School also offers M.A. or M.E. degrees in ten program areas, several teacher credential programs and an undergraduate minor. GSOE faculty and students conduct cutting-edge research that makes a difference in a wide range of areas related to education.
The GSOE Dean has responsibility for the overall strategic leadership, administration, and fiscal management of the school. GSOE seeks a recognized academic leader in education who possesses an accomplished background in scholarly research to serve as its next Dean. Major goals for the next Dean will be to recruit and retain distinguished faculty, expand the research enterprise (particularly research funded by competitive federal grants), enhance undergraduate and graduate education, cultivate philanthropic support, engage public constituencies and foster an atmosphere of support, collegiality and dynamism for the faculty, staff and students.
