Job Details:Mercer University invites applications for a Lecturer and Lab Coordinator for Physics to begin in the fall of 2024. The Department of Physics grants only bachelor's degrees in physics and is housed in the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences.


Responsibilities:

The selected candidate will teach physics lectures and labs (2/3 total commitment, 18 credit hours per academic year), coordinate all physics department lab activities (1/3 total commitment, equivalent to 9 credit hours per academic year), and contribute to program and course development within the department. This is a 10-month appointment -- nine months during the standard academic year and one month during the summer to prepare for the next academic year.

Qualifications:

Applicants must have a master’s degree or higher in physics or a closely related discipline by the start of the appointment. We seek candidates with a demonstrated commitment to excellence in teaching and who enjoy working in the physics lab. Preference will be given to applicants with (1) college or high school physics teaching experience, and/or (2) familiarity with instructional physics lab equipment.
