POSITION – The College of Business at Northern Michigan University is seeking applicants for a tenure-track faculty position at the rank of Instructor/Assistant Professor beginning in August 2014. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES – The assignment will include teaching undergraduate accounting courses including taxation. The faculty member may also teach MBA level accounting courses. Other responsibilities include advising, program development, outcomes assessment, scholarship, and service activities. The College of Business is AACSB accredited, and scholarly publications are expected.

QUALIFICATIONS – The minimum requirement for this position is a Ph.D. in accounting with a focus on taxation from an accredited university. The candidate must also be qualified according to AACSB standards. Those near Ph.D. completion (ABD) will also be considered, but at the instructor level with an expectation that the degree will be completed within one year of appointment. Some university-level teaching experience is highly desired. CPA certification is also highly desired.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED – Candidates must have the ability to: develop and deliver curriculum; meet the demands of the position in a timely manner; and assess student learning outcomes. In addition, candidates should have good oral and written communication skills and good interpersonal skills.

PROGRAMS – The College of Business offers a Master of Business Administration; Bachelor’s degree programs in accounting, accounting/computer information systems, accounting/corporate finance, computer information systems, entrepreneurship, finance and risk management, management, marketing, and ski area business management, as well as four associate degree programs. Northern Michigan University’s enrollment is approximately 8,900 with about 815 of these students majoring in College of Business programs.
