The University of Hawai`i at Manoa, College of Natural Sciences, Department of Mathematics invites applications for up to four full-time tenure-track positions as Assistant Professor of Mathematics to begin August 1, 2014, pending position clearance. Exceptional candidates may be appointed at a higher rank (Associate or Full Professor). Successful candidates will be expected to teach graduate and undergraduate students and maintain a vigorous research program in an area of pure or applied mathematics.

Duties and Responsibilities: teach graduate and undergraduate courses; direct graduate research; establish an international reputation for excellent research; perform other tasks as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications: Ph.D. in Mathematics from a college or university of recognized standing, or equivalent; demonstrated research and/or scholarly achievement; demonstrated ability as a teacher; poise and good address for meeting and conferring with others.

Associate Professor Minimum Qualifications: same as Assistant, plus a minimum of four years of full-time college or university teaching at the rank of Assistant Professor, or equivalent, with evidence of increasing professional maturity; research record commensurate with rank; ability to serve as a role model for students and junior colleagues.

Professor Minimum Qualifications: same as Associate, plus a minimum of four years of full-time college or university teaching at the rank of Associate Professor, or equivalent, with evidence of increasing professional maturity; research accomplishments that have resulted in significant recognition by the national and/or international community; capacity for leadership in the department and scholarly discipline.
