The College of Health, a vital component of the University of Utah Health Sciences Center, is comprised of the Departments of Communication Sciences and Disorders; Exercise and Sport Science; Health Promotion and Education; Parks, Recreation and Tourism; Physical Therapy; and the Divisions of Nutrition and Occupational Therapy.  The College offers baccalaureate, masters, Ph.D. and clinical doctorate degrees in many disciplines, serving approximately 3,800 undergraduate and graduate students.  As a part of the Health Sciences Center, the College maintains collaborative partnerships with the School of Medicine and the Colleges of Pharmacy and Nursing to achieve an integration of research, teaching, clinical practice and service. In addition, the large urban setting in which the University is located facilitates opportunities for key research and teaching partnerships with numerous local school districts and other community and governmental agencies and organizations.


The Dean is the chief academic officer and reports to the Senior Vice President for Health Sciences.  The College seeks a visionary and dynamic leader with a demonstrated record of program development, financial management, sustained scholarship, and outstanding contributions to a health related discipline. Candidates must have a terminal degree in an area consistent with the academic makeup of the College, a significant understanding of the fields included within the College and credentials that merit appointment at the rank of tenured full professor.  Additional requirements include interdisciplinary team building, advancement of development activities, sustaining the Colleges record of excellence in teaching, facilitation of extramural research funding, and advancement of relationships with community, business and government leaders.  Although experience in an academic health sciences center is preferred, candidates with experience in a non-health science setting are also encouraged to apply.
