Biology: The Department of Biology at DePaul University seeks to recruit a one year, non tenure track Laboratorian. Applicants should have a Ph.D. in Biology or related science with a broad training in Biological Sciences and a strong commitment to undergraduate education. Previous teaching experience and experience in laboratory and supplies management are preferred. The Laboratorian will assume primary responsibility in managing, coordinating and teaching the laboratories and/or portions of the lecture for general biology and coordinating and teaching laboratories for microbiology. The Laboratorian will be expected to spend about 66% of their time teaching lab and lecture sections and 33% of their time coordinating and overseeing the ordering, delivery, storage and set-up of materials required for multi-section labs. This will also include organizing and coordinating laboratory meetings with the teaching staff and teaching assistants. The Laboratorian will also work in collaboration with the course instructors to evaluate student performance in the courses and update and organize lab exercises and lab manuals as needed. This position will also require that the Laboratorian work with the two other Laboratorians on the general maintenance of all biological sciences lab spaces, stockroom, and storage areas, as well as maintaining departmental compliance with health and safety regulations. The Department is housed in spacious and well-equipped teaching, research and support facilities, including greenhouses, media prep rooms, glassware washers, and a 2,000 sq. ft. state-of-the-art staffed animal care facility.
