Job Description:
The successful candidate will enhance student access, success and degree completion by teaching courses with a primary focus in the prelicensure baccalaureate program and/or the Family Nurse Practitioner/Doctorate of Nursing Practice Program within the School of Nursing through a lens of racial equity and social justice; advising and mentoring students using a welcoming, equitable and inclusive approach; engaging actively in scholarship and continued professional development; and participating in service to the discipline, department, university, and community. The successful candidate will be expected to teach in the pre-licensure program on the main campus in Mankato, at clinical sites as assigned, and/or in the hybrid graduate program at the Edina location, and develop/instruct online coursework.
  • A typical faculty workload responsibility may include up to twenty four (24) credits of instruction per academic year.



  • The successful candidate may need to teach in other areas as assigned and qualified.

  • May be expected to develop and deliver face-to-face, hybrid, and on-line instruction at the Mankato campus, online, and/or at the university's additional locations, as assigned.

  • The successful candidate will collaborate with colleagues in curriculum design, instruction and evaluation, conduct research productively and mentor students in research, help create innovative strategies for student recruitment, retention, and completion, and may be expected to develop external grant funding opportunities.

  • All faculty members are expected to engage in scholarly or creative activity or research, in continuing preparation and study, in contributing to student growth and development, and in providing service to the university and community (See Article 22 and Appendix G of the IFO Master Agreement).




Required Qualifications:
  • Doctorate in nursing or closely related field at time of hire. (Conferred on an official transcript at the time of hire.)



  • Graduate degree in nursing at time of application. (Conferred on an official transcript at the time of application.)

  • Active unrestricted Registered Nurse licensure; active unrestricted Minnesota Registered Nurse license at time of appointment.

  • Ability to travel to clinical sites weekly or as necessary to facilitate student learning.

  • Demonstrated ability to serve a diverse population and apply an equity lens to this position including social justice and/or anti-racism.



Preferred Qualifications:
  • Demonstrated commitment to fostering a diverse working and learning environment.



  • Demonstrated effective written, oral communication and/or presentation skills.

  • Family Nurse Practitioner.

  • Teaching experience at the undergraduate and/or graduate level.

  • Clinical experience in adult health/acute care.

  • Experience in developing and facilitating student learning during low, medium, and high-fidelity simulation.

  • Evidence of or potential for nursing scholarship.




Other Requirements:
Work safely at all times, which includes but is not limited to, participating and completing all required safety trainings, as well as performing all job tasks in accordance with Minnesota State University, Mankato policies and procedures utilizing appropriate tools, equipment and personal protective equipment.

Driver’s license required.

Telework: Up to 20% of the time. A position with a work arrangement that allows an employee to perform work on a regular basis at a telework location that is not the employee’s permanent/principal work location.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:The School of Nursing is a welcoming, equitable, and inclusive environment offering innovative, family- and society-focused, technology-enhanced curricula for graduate and undergraduate students. We offer two programs leading to a Bachelor of Science degree which are the Pre-licensure and RN Baccalaureate of Science programs. The RN Completion program is 100% online with an enrollment of approximately 600 students. The Pre-licensure program is offered at the Mankato campus and is an upper-division, four-semester major with about 240 students enrolled. Courses are offered in various formats, including hybrid, and involve learning activities in our Maverick Family Nursing Simulation Center. The BSN-DNP/FNP program is offered at the MSU Mankato Center for Graduate and Professional Studies located in Edina and has an enrollment of approximately 60 students. A new Advanced Professional Nurse MS Degree Program is 100% online with a growing enrollment.

A supportive environment encourages interdisciplinary research, development of teaching skills, and community service. The Glen Taylor Nursing Institute for Family and Society, associated with the School of Nursing, provides opportunities for scholarly activity. Opportunities for professional growth are contractually funded through improvement grants, research grants and incentives, and sabbatical leaves.
