Position in Educational Leadership - Clinical Faculty - Open Rank

The Johns Hopkins University (JHU) School of Education (SoE) invites applications for a clinical, promotion-track faculty position in the area of Educational Leadership beginning August 1, 2014.

The successful candidate will have primary responsibility in the JHU SoE online Doctor of Education program with some responsibilities in the area of Administration and Supervision (e.g., district outreach) and an opportunity to contribute to the emerging identity of the JHU SoE leadership program. The JHU SoE Doctor of Education program seeks to develop students knowledge, skills, and dispositions as they engage in leading efforts to build new venture opportunities in varied educational contexts. Through multidisciplinary lenses, educational leaders will promote innovation in the paradigms, strategies, values and culture in school systems, social entrepreneurial ventures, and education companies. Each of the courses offers an opportunity to explore leadership theoretical frameworks, identify Problems of Practice, and create a plan of action.

Job Requirements


Candidates must have completed a doctoral degree in educational leadership or related field prior to the begin date of this position and provide evidence of competencies and interests noted below: (1) evidence of strong potential for excellence in college teaching and mentoring at the graduate level; (2) experience in educational leadership related fields; (3) experience teaching in online learning contexts; and (4) strong interest and requisite skills to teach and advise doctoral students. The ideal candidate will be a transformative, entrepreneurial thinker, reform minded, and have experience working in educational settings and organizations.

Desired qualifications include: (1) emphasis in entrepreneurial leadership and/or experience in non-profit or for-profit educational industry; (2) certification or experience in administration and supervision; and (3) demonstrated experience in grant preparations. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to work with researchers in SoE centers including the Center for Social Organization of Schools, Center for Research and Reform in Education, or Center for Technology in Education.
