Established in 1892, Central Michigan University is one of the nation's 100 largest public universities and the fourth largest in Michigan, with more than 20,000 students on its Mount Pleasant campus and another 7,000 enrolled online and at more than 60 locations worldwide. Early Childhood Development: The Human Development and Family Studies area at Central Michigan University invites applications for two 9-month tenure track positions in Early Childhood Development at the Assistant Professor level with appointments beginning August 18, 2014. Expertise in child development (birth - 8 years) or early childhood learning is required. Responsibilities include teaching, scholarly activity, student advising, and service to the department, college and university. Doctorate required, or ABD with degree awarded by date of hire, with at least one graduate degree in child development, early childhood education, human development and family studies, or closely related discipline; evidence of teaching effectiveness, scholarly and subject-matter competence; evidence of effective communication and interpersonal skills, and affiliation with relevant professional organizations. The Foods and Nutrition Program in the Department of Human Environmental Studies housed within the College of Education and Human Services at Central Michigan University seeks a full time, tenure track Assistant Professor of Nutrition and Dietetics to join an expanding Foods and Nutrition program. Required: Earned doctoral degree with course work in human nutrition, dietetics, food science, or food service administration; evidence of university teaching effectiveness; evidence of scholarly competence; and Registered Dietitian status. Recreation, Park, and Leisure Services Administration
Central Michigan University
Full-time, tenure-track position, effective August 2014 to teach classes in the Recreation and Event Management concentration. Content areas include community recreation, event management, programming, fiscal management for both for-profit and non-profit organizations, personnel administration, philosophy and research. Additional responsibilities will include student advising, service on department, college, and university committees, research, internship supervision, and professional service.
Doctorate, with at least one degree in parks and recreation administration or closely related field. One-to three years of professional experience in the recreation and/ or event management industries. Evidence of one to three years of quality teaching experience at the university level related to the course work described above, as evidenced by student evaluations and other written evidence. Demonstrated ability to establish a scholarly research agenda beyond the dissertation level.
Documented experience in undergraduate advising as well as supervision of student interns. Documented Certified Parks and Recreation Professional (CPRP).
