Salary Range: SSP I/A: $3,764 - $4,604/Monthly. SSP I/B: $4,066 - $5,752/Monthly.

Work Schedule: Full-Time, Monday - Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.; evening and occasional weekend work is required; non-exempt classification.

Essential Functions: Under the direction of the Associate Director of Recruitment, the incumbent is responsible for providing information regarding California State University admission policy and requirements, developing relationships with prospective students, parents, the on and off campus community, and encouraging qualified students to apply, and enroll at Cal State LA. The emphasis is upon the recruitment, admissions and ultimate enrollment of students through a variety of approaches. Assist in the hiring, training and supervision of student staff involved in recruitment activities. This generalist recruitment position employs a variety of recruitment techniques and strategies, depending on the recruitment cycle and the workload needs of the unit to meet the enrollment needs of the university. The incumbent will represent the CSU and the University at college nights, college fairs and career day events, presentations, workshops, and other recruitment and enrollment related events, as requested; work with designated school sites with the goal of increasing applications, enrollment deposits and ultimate enrollment at Cal State LA. Participate in designated CSU Outreach Initiative activities as requested; advise prospective applicants, and in some cases parents, on admission requirements, university policies, majors and careers, costs and financial aid, and special programs. Explain admissions policies, procedures and requirements to various campus departments, in individual and group settings; and conduct follow-up and assignments. information gathering for prospects, applicants and admits in order to answer any Admissions related questions. Provide unofficial transcript review when appropriate; advises clients on appropriate major based on interest, experience, personal circumstances, and previous academic records.

Required Qualifications & Experience:

SSP I/A: Working knowledge of the basic principles of individual and group behavior; research and observation techniques for the purpose of recording, classifying, and interpreting factual information; and the techniques and methods of interviewing.

SSP I/B: Equivalent of one year of experience in professional Student Services work at the entry trainee level. Equivalent amounts of graduate level job‑related education may be substituted for the required experience.

Both: Equivalent to graduation from an accredited four-year college or university in one of the behavioral sciences, public or business administration or a job-related field. The incumbent must demonstrate excellent written and oral communication skills as well as have the ability to speak in public forums and conduct presentations. The incumbent must also have access to a reliable form of transportation. The incumbent must have a demonstrated interest and/or ability to work in a multicultural/multiethnic environment. A background check (including a criminal records check) must be completed satisfactorily before any candidate can be offered a position with the California State University. Failure to satisfactorily complete the background check may affect the application status of applicants or continued employment of current California State University employees who may apply for the position.
