The School of Social Service Administration (SSA) invites applications for faculty positions at the Assistant, Associate or Full Professor ranks. We are particularly interested in candidates with an international perspective whose scholarship focuses on global processes and issues. Examples of areas of interest include international interventions, cross-national comparative policy, violence and conflict prevention, trauma and remediation, comparative evidence-based practice, and immigration and refugee populations and problems (both domestic and international). Individuals whose scholarship focuses on mental health problems, aging and education and/or are able to teach direct practice courses are particularly encouraged to apply.


Applicants must possess a doctorate (or be nearing completion of dissertation) in social work or social welfare or a related social science field and have a strong commitment to research, teaching and service. For those applicants interested in teaching courses in direct practice, amaster's degree in social work and two years of post-master's direct practice experience are preferred, although we will also consider candidates with a doctorate and experience in psychology, counseling, public health, or other related fields. Preference will be given to candidates with research interests relevant to disadvantaged populations and who demonstrate a commitment to the ideals set forth in the "University of Chicago Diversity Statement" (http://www.uchicago.edu/diversity/).
