The University of Texas at San Antonio, Department of Information Systems and Cyber Security invites applicants for three tenured/tenure-track positions beginning Fall 2024. One position is open rank and the other two are focused on assistant/associate professor hires.

Department

The Department of Information Systems and Cyber Security (ISCS) consists of 14 tenured and tenure-track faculty members (including 2 adjoint faculty), 22 fixed term track faculty members, and over 31 part-time adjunct instructors. We have over 2,200 students currently enrolled.

We offer undergraduate degrees in Information Systems, Cyber Security, and Applied Cyber Analytics; minors in digital forensics, cyber security, information systems, network and data center management, and technology management; graduate degrees in Information Technology with an optional concentration in Cyber Security, Management of Technology, and Data Analytics (in partnership with the Management Science & Statistics department); and a PhD degree in Information Technology with concentrations in traditional information systems, cybersecurity, and analytics/artificial intelligence.

Salary

Salary and start-up supporting packages for the positions are competitive and commensurate with qualifications and experience.

Hours per Week

Exempt Position: 40 hours per week.

Essential Functions

The successful candidates will excel at producing high-quality research and teaching. The successful candidates will be expected to participate in departmental service activities. Responsibilities include research, teaching at the graduate and undergraduate levels, and program development.

Required Qualifications
  • A Ph.D. degree in Information Systems, Cyber Security, or related areas (e.g., Information Science, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, etc.) (by Fall 2024 for assistant professor hires).
  • Applicants with a specialization in organizational/behavioral cybersecurity, cyber AI/analytics, or network security are particularly encouraged to apply, but all areas of Information Systems and Cybersecurity are welcome.
  • Candidates must demonstrate strong publication record or a potential for publishing in top-tier Candidates must demonstrate strong publication record or a potential for publishing in top-tier information systems, cyber security, or data analytics/AI/machine learning publication venues.
  • The successful candidate must have the ability to work with and be sensitive to the educational needs of first generation and low-income students and be committed to assisting the University's commitment to thrive as a Hispanic Serving Institution.


Preferred Qualifications
  • Demonstrable knowledge and experience in seeking and securing external research funding, and ability to obtain and conduct federally funded research that requires a top-secret security clearance are preferred.


Working Conditions

The primary work location will be on campus. Travel and parking expenses are the employee's responsibility.
