Tenure-Track Faculty Position in Exercise & Sport Science

POSITION:                   Western State Colorado University invites applications for a tenure-track position in exercise and sport science at the assistant professor level. Teaching responsibilities are focused in the area of clinical exercise science. Expertise and teaching experience in the following areas are desirable: exercise physiology (including labs), exercise assessment & prescription, clinical exercise physiology, nutrition & supplementation, biomechanics and anatomy & physiology.  Interest and expertise in environmental physiology, including high altitude physiology is sought. Responsibilities include teaching 24 semester credits per year, academic advising, college service, and scholarly activity. SALARY:                     Salary is commensurate with qualifications and rank; Salary range is $48,000-$50,000.

 

ADDITIONAL

QUALIFICATIONS:      Doctorate required. ABD will be considered for appointment, and doctorate is required for tenure. Candidate must have a demonstrated commitment to undergraduate education and excellence in teaching. Experience in supervision of undergraduate student research is highly desired. Preference will be given to candidates who have lab experience with a variety of testing protocols, ability to supervise a lab manager, and ACSM certification. Ability to work closely with colleagues in a small, student-centered undergraduate program is critical. Working with existing faculty to develop masters level curriculum in exercise physiology and programming associated with the proposed Center for Wellness & Human Performance is expected. Candidates should have a vision for professional activity (research, writing, professional involvement).
