Television, Film and Media Studies

Salary Range: $5,278 - $9,547/Monthly

Work Schedule: Full-Time, Monday - Thursday, 8:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m.; temporary position, ends on or before one year from the date of hire; may be extended; may become permanent; exempt classification.

Essential Functions: Coordinates, operates, and maintains film and television production and post-production facilities. Work involves operating and maintaining multi-camera systems, production and post-production equipment, and software, and providing engineering support and computer set-ups. Oversees Television, Film and Media Studies (TVFM) facilities including space-planning; ordering equipment, components, and supplies; and installing equipment and wiring. Technical work is performed independently under general direction. Uses initiative, judgement, and discretion in carrying out responsibilities for production, post-production, and broadcast facilities. Manages all department television and film related IRA budgets. Provides additional support for systems in instructional spaces. Trains and coordinates student assistants.

Required Qualifications & Experience: A college degree program in a related field or a combination of technical training and experience. Equivalent to three years of progressively responsible experience as an audiovisual engineer, including all phases of operation and maintenance of television facilities and broadcast studios. Comprehensive knowledge of the practices, methods, and trends in television and film production and broadcasting. Comprehensive knowledge of digital and analog electronics and audiovisual systems. Working knowledge of cable and fiber network systems. Ability to: use computer systems in TV and motion picture production, post-production, and broadcasting including video server technology; plan, layout, operate, and maintain film/television broadcasting production facilities; interpret/apply provisions of applicable state and federal communications legislation; and train and supervise student assistants. Incumbent must demonstrate an interest or ability in working in a multicultural/multiethnic environment. A background check (including a criminal records check) must be completed satisfactorily before any candidate can be offered a position with the CSU. Desired Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Film, Media, or another related field.
