Job Description: The Department of Speech, Language, and Hearing Sciences invites applications for a faculty position in American Sign Language. The department is a clinical/educational/research unit within the College of Public Health and Health Professions at the University of Florida Health Science Center. This is a full-time (1.0 FTE) 12-month non-tenure faculty position. We are seeking a dynamic personality to fill a full time position in American Sign Language instruction.
Minimum Requirements: Minimum qualifications include a masterdegree in an applicable field or equivalent professional experience
Preferred Qualifications Preference will be given to applicants with a professional certification by ASLTA, an earned doctorate in American Sign Language, ASL Linguistics, Deaf Studies, Deaf Education, or closely related field, a broad knowledge and understanding of Deaf culture and the Deaf community, recent experience in teaching ASL for credit in post-secondary programs, fluency in ASL communication skills with a strong linguistic or grammar base, good communication skills working with Deaf and hearing colleagues, a commitment to excellence in teaching, and willingness to collaborate extensively with other professionals.
