Instruct courses in Philosophy.  Other responsibilities include, but are not limited to: student advising, maintaining office hours, participating in college committees, promoting and supporting extra-curricular activities, participating in professional development, and working across departments to develop student communication, computation, and problem-solving skills.  Candidates should be prepared to teach in non-traditional venues such as Internet, two-way interactive video and Internet/traditional classroom combinations.  Will include evening classes; may include weekend, off-campus teaching.  This tenure eligible position reports to the Division Chair of Social & Behavioral Sciences.


NOTE:  This is a security sensitive position and an appropriate background investigation will be made on applicants being strongly considered for this position.



Education: Master's degree from an accredited college or university, with a minimum of 18 graduate hours in Philosophy. 



Knowledge of: 1) subject matter; (2) professional development; (3) curriculum development; (4) trends in teaching/learning theory as it applies to Philosophy.

Skills to: (5) teach at the post-secondary level; (6) use technology in support of instruction; (7) evaluate student performance; (8) promote and support related extra-curricular activities; (9) establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with those contacted in the course of work; (10) communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing; (11) advise students; (12) participate in college committees; (13) work across departments to develop student communication, computation, and problem-solving skills.



Physical effort-Restricted: Sustained posture or intense attentiveness for prolonged periods.  Light lifting (less than 30 lbs), some walking, pushing, pulling on a regular basis.  Work environment-Minimal hazard/exposure: Standard office setting.  At least minimal environmental controls to assure health and comfort.



Health Insurance, retirement plan, sick leave, vacation, holidays, personal leave.  Eligible employees and dependents may take college courses tuition free.  Participation in Medicare Part A, but not Social Security (FICA).
