GENERAL POSITION DESCRIPTION

Instruct courses in Government. Other responsibilities include, but are not limited to: student advising, maintaining office hours, participating in college committees, promoting and supporting extra-curricular activities, participating in professional development, and working across departments to develop student communication, computation, and problem-solving skills.  Will include evening classes; may include weekend, off-campus, and/or internet courses.  This tenure eligible position reports to the Division Chair of Social & Behavioral Sciences.

 

NOTE:  This is a security sensitive position and an appropriate background investigation will be made on applicants being strongly considered for this position.

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS

Education: Master's degree from an accredited college or university, with a minimum of 18 graduate hours in Government.

Skills & Ability to:  (5) teach at the post secondary level; (6) use technology in support of instruction; (7) evaluate student performance; (8) promote and support related extra-curricular activities; (9) establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with those contacted in the course of work; (10) communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing; (11) advise students; (12) participate in college committees; (13) work across departments to develop student communication, computation, and problem-solving skills.

 

WORKING CONDITIONS 

Physical effort-restricted: Sustained posture or intense attentiveness for prolonged periods.  Light lifting (less than 30 lbs), some walking, pushing, pulling on a regular basis.  Work environment-Minimal hazard/exposure: Standard office setting.  At least minimal environmental controls to assure health and comfort.
