Lynchburg College is seeking a dynamic faculty member for a full-time, position as Director of Clinical Education. The Doctor of Physical therapy program is housed in Lynchburg Colleges Health Sciences Building with more than 37,000 square feet dedicated to physical therapy instruction and research. The DPT curriculum features an innovative hybrid model of instruction, and prepares physical therapists to become leaders in their personal and professional lives. The appointment is a 12-month position to begin preferably June 1, 2012. Tenure or Clinical track is available, and will be matched to the applicants experience and education.

 

Successful candidates will possess the following qualifications and skills: 

  • Post-professional DPT or earned terminal academic degree (PhD, EdD, or equivalent) in Physical Therapy or related discipline
  • Licensed or eligible for licensure as a physical therapist in the Commonwealth of Virginia
  • A minimum of 5 years clinical practice as a licensed physical therapist
  • Previous administrative experience (clinical and/or academic)
  • Strong organizational, communication, decision-making, teamwork, interpersonal, and leadership skills
  • Knowledge in the management of information, particularly computer technology
  • Current knowledge of legal, regulatory, and practice issues involving clinical education
  • Able to function independently, setting direction and priorities with minimal supervision
  • Able to coordinate work with colleagues and peers
  • Member of the American Physical Therapy Association
  • Able to travel, as needed

 

Preferred qualifications of the candidate include:

  • ABPTS certification in field of specialty
  • Prior teaching experiences in a physical therapist academic program
  • Interest in teaching in the area of basic clinical skills, differential diagnosis, and physical modalities
