The Department of Languages and Literature at the University of Utah invites applications for a full-time, renewable lectureship in German language beginning July 1, 2012. The Department seeks a dedicated and passionate Germanist who will contribute to the long-term quality, stability and development of the German program, particularly at the elementary and intermediate levels of instruction with opportunity to teach upper level courses. The successful candidate will be expected to teach six courses per academic year and actively participate in coordinating the lower division of the departments vibrant German major program. Expertise and experience in application of the European Framework of Reference for Languages is desirable. MA required, PhD preferred in German in any area of language pedagogy, literature, and/or culture. Appointment with MA degree would be at the Instructor (Lecturer) level. Native or near-native abilities in English and German are required.
Length of initial contract is one year, and will be subject to renewal, possibly on a three-year appointment basis, contingent upon performance with full benefits. Salary is competitive.
