Nevada State College invites applications for the position of Financial Aid Counselor.
This position is responsible for assisting in the management and coordination of various federal, state, and private funding programs and processes including but not limited to federal, state, and private funding. This position requires a complete understanding of the federal regulations in terms of packaging, awarding & disbursing funds to the student.
Specifically, this position assists in the outreach, counseling, public presentations, and awards and scholarship functions. The incumbent provides staff training to ensure knowledge is shared to enhance the overall delivery of financial aid service to students. The incumbent performs multiple financial aid workshops for NSC staff and faculty, community groups, and Clark County School District high school financial aid nights.
The incumbent also works closely with enrollment management staff to ensure timely and accurate financial aid counseling to students.
1.) Bachelor's degree
2.) Three or more years of work experience advising students regarding their financial aid
3.) Experience training/mentoring staff
4.) Proven experience preparing and delivering presentations
5.) Computer skills that include: MS Word, Excel and student information systems
6.) Effective written and oral communication skills and proven interpersonal skills
7.) Ability to work independently and contribute to a team environment while effectively managing multiple priorities and deadlines
8.) Ability to thrive in a high-paced and dynamic environment
9.) Demonstrated coordination, planning, and organizational skills; attention to detail and creativity

3.) Compuster skills that include: MS PowerPoint or other presentation software
