LAW ENFORCEMENT OFFICER I

 

 

Virginia Western, the Community's College that is located in the heart of the Blue Ridge Mountains of the Roanoke Valley, is accepting applications for a Law Enforcement Officer I. The Law Enforcement Officer I provides protection of persons and property and performs regularly assigned campus patrols and incident investigations. Applicants must be available to work a flexible work schedule, including evening hours, weekends, holidays, and rotating shifts.

QUALIFICATIONS

 

REQUIRED: Considerable knowledge of public safety and security laws, legal codes, as well as regulations and equipment, to ensure effective safeguarding and security of people, buildings, and property of Virginia Western Community College. Ability to follow oral and written instructions and procedures. Ability to write, proofread, and edit written reports. Ability to react appropriately in emergency situations. Ability to work all shifts, carrying equipment and performing foot and vehicle patrols. Must possess or be able to obtain Virginia Department of Criminal Justice Services (DCJS) law enforcement academy certification and a valid Virginia driver's license.

 

DESIRED: Previous work experience working in a college, military and/or police municipal environment. Current Virginia Department of Criminal Justice Services (DCJS) law enforcement academy certification is preferred.
