Recruitment and Appointment of Tenure-Track and Non-Tenure Track Faculty


The University of South Carolina School of Medicine-Greenville (USCSOM-Greenville) is seeking applications for founding faculty with interdisciplinary and discipline specific expertise in the following areas: Anatomy, Biochemistry, Histology, Immunology, Microbiology, Neurosciences, Integrative Pathology, Pharmacology, Physiology, and other Interdisciplinary Basic Sciences.


USCSOM-Greenville seeks individuals for positions at the assistant professor, associate professor, or professor level. Faculty will help develop and teach a curriculum that stresses collaborative learning, early integration of direct patient care throughout all four years of training, interdisciplinary team-based care, interpersonal skills with an emphasis on communication, integration of research with real-world concerns, and life-long learning. The Department of Biomedical Sciences is home to the expected 24 basic sciences faculty who will participate in interdisciplinary organ systems-based medical education, scholarly activity, and academic service.


USCSOM-Greenville seeks faculty with a passion for teaching; enthusiasm for building new programs; commitment to excellence in research / scholarship, and interest and experience that enhances our educational and research endeavors. Successful candidates must hold a Ph.D., M.D., or equivalent. Preference will be given to applicants with a proven record of accomplishment in scholarship related to medical education, collaborative research, clinical translation, and patient-centered outcomes / comparative effectiveness research.


Our new 90,000 sq. ft. medical education building incorporates a state of the art information technology design with team-focused smart classrooms, a 30,000 ft2 simulation and clinical skills center, technology enhanced learning studios, modern anatomical science laboratories, and classrooms designed for large and small group sessions. Our clinical partner Greenville Hospital System, the largest hospital system in the state of South Carolina and one of the largest nationally, stands ready to embark on a second century of high-quality community-centered health care as new medical students arrive and community initiatives expand.
