The Sanford Center for Aging, part of the University of Nevada, Reno, is an innovative statewide organization dedicated to improving the quality of life for older adults in Nevada through education, translational research and community outreach.


The Sanford Center for Agings Coordinator of the Gerontology Academic program (GAP) oversees the administrative, fiscal, and programmatic support for the faculty who teach courses in gerontology (GERO) and provides advising for those students who are pursuing a minor or a certificate in gerontology within the Division of Health Sciences.


The Coordinator oversees the operation of GAP and serves as the primary leadership position for developing and delivering gerontology education at the university at the undergraduate, graduate and professional levels. Additionally, this position will teach at least one GERO course each semester.


The Coordinator chairs the Interdisciplinary Gerontology Curriculum Committee (IGCC) and works with the faculty and chairs from diverse academic units in order to foster course offerings and to facilitate the development, review, approval, and evaluation of the gerontology curriculum at both the undergraduate and graduate levels.


The Coordinator is a member of the Association for Gerontology in Higher Education (AGHE) and will renew the department for Program of Merit (POM) designation. The position reports to the Director of the Sanford Center for Aging.
