Located in Ithaca, N.Y., Cornell University is a bold, innovative, and inclusive teaching and research university of academic distinction and public service where staff, faculty, and students alike are challenged to be active citizens of the world.


Responsibilities: Teach "Management Communication I," a first-year core course that emphasizes written communication in professional contexts and includes an introduction to presentational speaking in business. Hold frequent tutorial conferences with individual students to discuss their papers and presentations.


Conditions of Appointment: Visiting lecturer, full- or part-time. Appointment is for the 2012-13 academic year only. Salary commensurate with qualifications. The full-time teaching load is three courses per semester.

Major Qualifications: Master's degree or Ph.D. Demonstrated teaching ability. Experience and skill in teaching writing in professional contexts. Business knowledge and experience are an advantage.


Institution: The School of Hotel Administration, one of Cornell's ten colleges, has approximately 900 undergraduates and 60 graduate students. Founded in 1922 as the first program of its kind, the School has over 50 resident faculty members (including five in communication), as well as visiting faculty from the hospitality industry. http://www.hotelschool.cornell.edu/.


The School of Hotel Administration is located at the center of campus in Statler Hall, which contains classrooms, offices, a library, and a computer center. An adjacent 150-room hotel and conference center serves as a learning laboratory for our students.
