The Harvard University Graduate School of Education seeks to fill one Postdoctoral Fellow position in Mathematics Education. The fellow will study best practices in secondary mathematics teacher education in the US and in several Pacific-rim countries. This position is supported by a grant from the US Department of Education.
Candidates must have an earned doctoral degree in mathematics education or a similar discipline prior to starting the appointment. The successful applicant will have a demonstrated ability to engage in creative scholarship/research in mathematics education. The responsibilities of the position include working as part of a collaborative team with faculty and graduate students at the Harvard Graduate School of Education, under the supervision of Dr. Jon Star.
This program is open to all qualified U.S. citizens and permanent resident aliens without regard to race, age, gender, religion, color, national origin, or physical disability. The appointment will begin in August 2012 and would run for one year.
Desirable attributes of candidates for this postdoctoral fellowship include: strong formal background in research on mathematics education, experience working with preservice secondary mathematics teachers, experience and expertise in both qualitative and quantitative methods of data analysis, and strong content knowledge in K-12 mathematics.
