Auburn University seeks a 12-nionth tenure-track  extension specialist (100% extension) at the Assistant or Associate Professor level to provide leadership in the areas of human nutrition and social health. This position is housed in the Department of Nutrition, Dietetics and Hospitality Management, and is designed to assist the College of Human Sciences and the Alabama Cooperative Extension System (ACES) in overcoming health and wellness concerns across the state. The position will provide leadership in the development, delivery, evaluation, and reporting of evidence-based programs and applied research aimed at arresting these concerns.  RESPONSffiiLITIES: The selected applicant will be responsible for (1) providing statewide leadership (lead scholar) in the areas of human nutrition, social health, and food security education; (2) developing and delivering educational programs (initiatives, presentations, website infonnation,  and supporting materials) grounded in research-based science to improve the nutritional and health levels of different social classes and ages; (3) collaborating with, supporting, and training Extension educators across the state in the implementation, evaluation, and reporting of these programs; (4) initiating evidence-based  extension and applied research projects that engage and involve client groups, stakeholders, and entire communities to overcome chronic issues related to malnutrition and food insecurity; (5) establishing and maintaining a strong extramurally funded extension and applied research program to attest to the effectiveness  and sustainability of these initiatives; (6) participating in and assisting program teams in the development of annual plans of work; (7) providing service within professional organizations  and on committees within the Department, College, ACES, and University; (8) completing ACES reporting requirements,  including those reports to the National Institute of Food and Agriculture; and (9) serving as Program Team Coordinator for the Extension Human Nutrition Diet and Health Priority Program Team. 

REQUIRED  QUALIFICATIONS:  Earned doctorate from an accredited institution in nutrition, dietetics, food service management, public health, or related field. Demonstrated experience in program and intervention development, delivery and/or evaluation. Demonstrated ability to communicate,  interact and collaborate with colleagues, state officials, stakeholders, community leaders, and clientele. Demonstrated  experience in the design and development  of evidence-based  or applied research projects in human nutrition, health and wellness, or food security.·Ability to conduct effective community-based stakeholder engagement, needs assessment, and educational programming. Strong promise in building a record of scholarship, grantsmanship, and multi-disciplinary collaborations. Experience in planning programs for diverse audiences. The successful candidate must meet eligibility requirements to work in the United States at the time the appointment is scheduled to begin and continue working legally for the proposed term of employment. Candidate must be able to communicate effectively in written and spoken English. 

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: Registered Dietitian (RD) credential or RD eligible. Three years of community nutrition and health education related work experience.
