The Vellore Christian Medical College Foundation (VCMCF) seeks a president to lead its operation in New York City and raise awareness and support in the United States for Christian Medical College, Vellore (CMC). CMC, located in Tamil Nadu, India, is a renowned medical and educational institution, which serves over two million patients a year. As CMC and India have grown, so have the challenges: increasing patient loads, shifting medical needs, and intensifying demands on all doctors, nurses, allied health professionals and staff. While meeting these emerging needs, CMC remains steadfast in its founding Christian commitments to service, outreach, and care.
In response to CMCs growth and evolving goals, VCMCF continues to work closely with CMC management in Vellore to identify key priorities and opportunities to help advance comprehensive medical and healthcare education and cost-effective care. The President will join VCMCF at an important moment in its history; its charting a new course to best respond to the needs of CMC. VCMCF is in unique position to expand on its record of providing valuable guidance and philanthropic investment in CMC. Building on past achievements, the President will: be an energetic and entrepreneurial fundraiser who will inspire the Board of Directors, alumni, and other constituents to work together to reinforce the founding dream and support the critical work of CMC; serve as the catalyst for philanthropy and chief development officer for VCMCF; lead the dramatic growth of annual philanthropic support to at least $2 million by mid-year 2014; expand interactions with public, private, and charitable leaders throughout the U.S; communicate CMCs vision and achieve maximum positive visibility among various target audiences and core constituents, including alumni, friends, partners, foundations, corporations, donors, prospects, and volunteers.
Requirements: demonstrated passion for and commitment to the values, Christian identity, and work of CMC and VCMCF; proven fundraising experience, including the ability to personally solicit gifts, significantly strengthen and expand the donor and prospect pool, as well as write and manage funding proposals; mission-driven, compassionate, and inclusive leader; integrity, humility, and interpersonal skills to serve as the organizational spokesperson and to work effectively with diverse national and international constituents; ability to meaningfully engage constituents in a manner that facilitates action, deepens commitment, and increases support; genuine interest in the developing world; experience within a complex healthcare, higher education, or relief organization.
