The College of Arts and Sciences of Our Lady of the Lake University (OLLU; website:   www.ollusa.edu) seeks a full-time, tenure-track assistant professor for its Theology and Spiritual Action Program to begin in the fall of 2020. OLLU, located near beautiful downtown San Antonio, is a Catholic university sponsored by the Congregation of Divine Providence. The University is a Hispanic-Serving Institution (HSI) of approximately 3,100 students with additional learning sites in Houston and the Rio Grande Valley. The Theology and Spiritual Action Program reflects OLLU’s sponsorship and history by engaging the cultural context of its student demographic and by providing a unique, vital contribution to the University’s identity. Housed in the Department of Humanities and Social Sciences, the Program offers a BA and minor and serves the University by offering distribution requirements in its general-education program. The successful candidate will be committed to the mission of OLLU, to excellent teaching, and to developing this Program.

 

Required Qualifications:

  • Demonstrated potential in teaching and scholarship;
  • Research doctorate in Theology (Ph.D., S.T.D., Th.D.);
  • Enthusiasm for connecting theology to Hispanic experience(s) and first-generation college students, both majors and non-majors;
  • Deep commitment to the Catholic, Congregation of Divine Providence identity of the University;
  • Willingness and capability to serve as Theology and Spiritual Action program head; and
  • Interest in designing online course content and employing service-learning pedagogies.
