EXECUTIVE ASSOCIATE DEAN

The Executive Associate Dean supports the Dean as directed for the purposes of effectively developing and implementing college-wide programs and activities. The Executive Associate Dean will oversee activities and responsibilities related to budget and finance, PhD. Programs and research, faculty recruiting, annual faculty performance reviews, promotions and tenure processes and decisions, the college’s Center for International Business Studies and the Real Estate Center, and serves as a primary interface with the University’s Dean of Faculties.

 The Executive Associate Dean works in collaboration with faculty, staff and administrators to plan, develop, implement and assess programs that meet faculty and student needs and fulfills Mays Business School’s mission of being a vibrant learning organization that creates impactful knowledge and develops transformational leaders. The Executive Associate Dean reports to the Dean of Mays Business School.  

Primary Duties & Responsibilities

  • GENERAL ADMINISTRATION
  • Represent the college on various university committees.
  • Act as dean’s representative on committees and other functions as requested.
  • Serve on the college Executive Committee and the Deans Associate Deans’ group.
  • Participate in strategic planning and implementation.
  • Oversee the Ph.D. programs managed at the departmental level.
  • Lead college research initiatives as relevant.
  • Directly oversee the college’s Center for International Business Studies and the Real Estate Center.
  • Supervise and coordinate the activities of the college’s five department heads.
  • As requested by the Dean, assist with various AACSB and University reports.
  • Other duties as assigned.
  •  FACULTY RESPONSIBILITIES 
  • Meet with potential faculty colleagues being recruited by departments.
  • Oversee and coordinate the annual faculty review process.
  • Oversee and coordinate the promotion and tenure process.
  • Chair the college Research Council.
  • Other duties as assigned.
  •  BUDGET AND FISCAL RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Work with the Dean to oversee and manage the college’s budget process.
  • Directly supervise the Assistant Dean for Finance and Administration
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Earned doctorate, with credentials commensurate with a tenured faculty appointment at the rank of full professor.
  • A distinguished record of performance in higher education, with a minimum of five years of related experience.
  • Administrative experience and proven leadership at the level of division chair, director, Associate Dean, Executive Associate Dean or the equivalent, including experience with faculty, staff, and budget management.
  • Ability and desire to work effectively with the multiple stakeholders of Mays Business School, and Texas A&M University.
  • Outstanding communication skills.
  • Effective planning and implementation of strategic initiatives.
