Kenyon College, a highly selective liberal arts
college in central Ohio, invites applications for
a two-year visiting assistant professor
position in the Department of Classics, with a specialty in Roman
material culture, effective July 1, 2020.
Teaching responsibilities consist of five courses per year. In
addition to offering courses in Roman civilization and Roman
archaeology, candidates must be qualified to teach Latin at the
elementary, intermediate, and advanced levels. The Department seeks
applicants whose scholarly specialties complement but do not
duplicate those of current faculty. A Ph.D. in hand is preferred.
Applicants must be able to demonstrate excellence in teaching, with
evidence of support for Kenyon’s commitment to diversity and
inclusion.
To apply, please submit the following materials
using the online application system at http://careers.kenyon.edu: (1) a
cover letter detailing teaching approaches and experience as well
as research interests; (2) a curriculum vitae; (3) graduate
transcripts; and (4) the names of three references who can provide
letters of recommendation, at least one of which addresses the
candidate’s teaching abilities.
Review of applications will begin January 6, 2020, and will continue until the position is filled. Completed applications received by the January 6 deadline will be guaranteed full consideration. Preliminary interviews will be held by Skype or equivalent technology in February. On-campus interviews will follow.
All application materials must be submitted
electronically through Kenyon's employment website.
Inquiries may be directed to Rachel Hoffman, Administrative
Assistant for Classics, at hoffman2@kenyon.edu or
