Description

The University of Montana Western invites applications for a tenure-track position in the Department of History, Philosophy, and Social Sciences at the rank of Assistant/Associate Professor, commencing August 1, 2020. Applicants must have a specialization in either Latin America or the Atlantic World, and at least one of these content areas: Indigenous Peoples, Empire, or Early America. Extra consideration may be given to applicants who can teach introductory Spanish. Responsibilities will include teaching introductory courses in non-western and US history, historical research methods and upper level courses in area of specialization. Other duties include student advising, scholarly activity, participation in campus committees, assisting with student recruitment, attending faculty meetings, and other normal faculty duties.

Qualifications

Minimum qualifications include an earned doctorate in history, or an ABD with completion of doctorate by May 2020. Demonstrated excellence in postsecondary teaching is required, with experience in the subjects listed above highly preferred. Individuals must demonstrate: the ability to create an experience-centered learning environment; scholarly productivity in the area of specialty; and evidence of professional service.
