NTT Assistant Professor of Humanities and Languages

The Department of Humanities and Languages at the New Economic School in Moscow, Russia is accepting applications for a non-Tenure Track Assistant Professor to begin in August 2020. The position carries a 3-year renewable contract. Candidates should have or be close to completing a PhD in English Studies, broadly defined. Individuals considering a career outside of North America and the UK are particularly encouraged to apply. Specialty is open, though applicants should have an interest in writing pedagogy and be prepared to teach 1-2 sections of a first-year English-language writing course in collaboration with current faculty. Interest in or experience with business writing, science writing, WID, writing center pedagogy, second-language writing and/or the teaching of English outside of traditionally Anglophone countries is also a plus. Knowledge of Russian is not required though useful for getting around Moscow. All instruction will be in English.

The new Assistant Professor will offer up to 3 courses per semester and assist in the Writing and Communication Center for the New Economic School’s Bachelor’s program. This program offers students a US-style liberal arts education on the way to getting a BA in Economics. It draws the very best students from all over Russia, and our graduates have enrolled in top PhD programs in the United States and Europe. In addition to the first-year writing course, the new hire will have the opportunity to create advanced electives in his or her specialty. Teaching in our Master’s program is also a possibility depending on the candidate’s strengths and interests.
