Assistant/Associate Professor of Italian Studies

The Department of French and Italian at Dartmouth College seeks a tenure-track professor at the Assistant or Associate rank specializing in Italian Studies, with preference for a scholar in Medieval and Renaissance studies and a second area of expertise desirable such as, but not limited to, environmental humanities, film and media studies, literature and politics, or literature and science. Expected to teach The Divine Comedy, general courses in Italian literature and culture, and all levels of language courses. Native or near­-native command of Italian and English, a strong teaching record, Ph.D. completed by August 2019, and promise of significant scholarly accomplishment are required. Candidates must possess the skills to teach compelling undergraduate courses in Italian literature, language and culture at all levels. The successful candidate will be an enthusiastic participant in Dartmouth's thriving program of Italian extra-curricular activities; he/she will also be expected to direct Dartmouth's quarter-long program in Rome on a regular basis.
