The Department of Literature and Languages at The University of Texas at Tyler invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor in Spanish and French beginning fall 2020. Required qualifications include Ph.D. in Spanish with 18 hours of graduate coursework in French and near-native fluency in Spanish, French, and English. Desirable credentials include early peninsular literature and linguistics with college teaching experience. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, teaching Spanish and French language and culture, occasionally peninsular literature or linguistics to English and Spanish majors, research and publication, learning outcome assessment, and local community outreach for service learning. Teaching load is 3/3. Compensation is competitive and based on credentials.
Tyler is located 90 miles east of Dallas in the scenic
Piney Woods area of East Texas. As the cultural center of East

The retirement plan for this position is Teacher Retirement System of Texas (TRS), subject to the position being at least 20 hours per week and at least 135 days in length. This position has the option to elect the Optional Retirement Program (ORP) instead of TRS, subject to the position being 40 hours per week and at least 135 days in length.
