The University of Wisconsin-La Crosse, College of Science and Health, Department of Computer Science invites applicants for a full time academic year tenure track Assistant Professor to start no later than Aug 31, 2020. In addition to a vibrant Computer Science program, we are adding an undergraduate degree program in Computer Engineering starting in Fall 2020. 

We seek a colleague who shares the Department’s values and who will be a dedicated teacher, scholar and mentor for students with diverse backgrounds, preparation and career goals. Candidates for the appointment should have or be near to completing a doctorate degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science or a related field by the start date. Degree must be earned by the first personnel review, no later than May 15, 2021. 

Primary responsibilities include teaching coursework in computer engineering and computer science at the undergraduate and graduate level, engaging in an active program of scholarship and professional service. Applicants must demonstrate evidence of teaching and research skills. The Department encourages candidates from all areas of computer science and computer engineering to apply.

The UW-La Crosse campus is nestled in a residential area of the City of La Crosse (pop. 52,000) located in western Wisconsin.  The area, known as the 7 Rivers Region, is famous for its exceptional natural beauty which includes the Mississippi River on one side, majestic bluffs on the other, and views of rolling farmland and forested valleys in between.  Abundant water, woodlands and varying terrain provide ample opportunities for year-round outdoor recreation.  Only a couple of hours from Minneapolis or Madison, La Crosse enjoys the affordability and charm of small town living with larger city benefits.  Three colleges, two world-class medical institutions, the La Crosse Symphony Orchestra, a restored nineteenth century downtown business district, and a number of galleries and art centers have made La Crosse a regional center for culture, entertainment, medical care, shopping, sports and recreation.
