The School of Film at Portland State University seeks a dynamic faculty member who will play a role in continuing development of a comprehensive undergraduate curriculum that integrates film, digital culture, and media into a liberal arts program and provides a strong foundation for critical thinking that guides students’ creative and critical work. Faculty members will engage in school, college, university and community collaborations, and conduct significant external scholarly/creative activity. The candidate will also play an important role in school advising and serve as a faculty advisor for the major and the minor. Course load is 7 courses on a quarter system (3 terms, 11 weeks each). 

PhD preferred, MFA considered. Completed degree.

Specialization in digital culture and media production; areas of research and teaching expertise might include digital arts/filmmaking, multimedia storytelling, digital media convergence, video/online gaming, virtual reality, augmented reality, artificial intelligence, and streaming/new distribution channels.

Ability to teach introductory and advanced in digital culture, digital filmmaking and media production, media studies, and film analysis, history, and theory. Evidence of a proven record of pedagogic innovation and teaching success will be carefully considered in the selection process.

A minimum of three years university or college teaching experience in relevant areas.
