The Director of Campus Sustainability (DCS) will report to the Associate Vice President for Facilities and Sustainability (AVP) and support the AVP and the President's Sustainability Council (PSC) by leading the development and implementation of a campus wide sustainability plan. The DCS is responsible for the providing strategic direction, day-to-day leadership on all sustainability initiatives, oversees internal and external communications, and tracks metrics to assess the plan's progress. This position will directly supervise a team of staff and/or student interns and coordinate with other faculty, staff, and student volunteers and vendors to implement the sustainability plan.

Specific responsibilities include:
• Act as the primary liaison and advisor to the AVP and the PSC. Develop, prioritize, plan, coordinate and implement a wide variety of initiatives across engagement, operations, and policy in support of Bucknell's Sustainability Plan and the Office of Campus Sustainability.
• Define goals, performance metrics and a long range plan for sustainability. Monitor and evaluate program effectiveness, document performance trends, and recommend and implement modifications to improve program effectiveness.
• Recommend and implement campus wide policies and strategic direction to achieve Bucknell's sustainability objectives. Coordinate and lead meetings, working groups, and gather feedback from campus constituencies. Establish and lead implementation of plans.
• Establish and manage sustainability programming engaging students, faculty and staff community members. Foster and coordinate new ideas and concepts for sustainability programming themes and identify materials and resources to supplement, expand or replace existing sustainability programming. Coordinate efforts and/or collaborate with the appropriate department(s) in promoting, enhancing, and managing internal and external communications related to sustainability initiatives.
• Serve as the main point of contact and liaison to the University community and serve on various committees. Routinely prepare and present special reports to the PSC, campus leadership and broader community on sustainability-related topics.
• Represent the sustainability programs to the public; attend professional meetings as appropriate; interface with external organizations to ensure cooperative efforts are enhance and available resources are utilized. Research and maintain working knowledge of best practices with regards to sustainability.
• Develop and manage associated operating budgets.
• Recruit, interview, hire and manage staff and volunteers.
• Identify and pursue grant and resource development opportunities to support sustainability efforts.
• Assist in the preparation of and ensure the timely submission of external reports.

Minimum Qualifications:
• Bachelor's Degree and a minimum of 7 years of directly related experience or a Master's degree in a relevant field and 5 years of directly related experience.
• Experience implementing environmental, sustainability or related programs.
• Knowledge of sustainability concepts, best practices and principles.
• Experience leading change in a diverse organization and coordinating, organizing, and implementing programs and events.
• Demonstrated ability to perform effectively in a fast paced environment with multiple priorities and projects with minimal supervision.
• Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, is required to communicate effectively with a wide variety of constituents, including faculty, staff, students, parents, trustees and consultants.
• Experience and expertise to contribute to Bucknell's commitment to diversity and inclusiveness.

Preferred Qualifications:
• Master's degree or advance certifications related to sustainability.
• Demonstrated active involved in formal sustainability committees, councils, or organizations in a higher education environment.
• Supervisory and/or leadership experience.
• Experience maintaining a website and/or managing a social media site.

The Community
