Position Summary:
The Online Assistant Professor 9 Mo for Psychology's primary responsibility is teaching a variety of courses in the A-State Online B.A. Psychology program. Initial duties will also include the development of courses to be offered on an online platform. Online teaching experience is important.
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Teaching a variety of undergraduate psychology courses in a new large scale B.A. Psychology Program offered through A-State Online. Courses to be offered include PSY 1013 Making Connections (Freshman Seminar); PSY 2023 Psychology as a Science and Profession; PSY 3003 Research Design and Analysis; PSY 3303 Motivation; PSY 3453 Developmental Psychology; PSY 4533 Abnormal Psychology; PSY 4363 Cognitive Psychology; PSY 3613 Cultural Psychology; PSY 3523 Social Psychology; PSY 4343 Learning Processes; PSY 4483 Professional Capstone. Courses are offered in two seven-week blocks per semester. Teaching load is five courses per semester with the possibility of a one course per semester reduction for program coordination for the experienced and qualified candidate
- Initial investment in developing/converting course content to an online platform will be required. Assistance is available for course design and content development as needed
- Involvement in ongoing program assessment and reporting
- Program coordination (with one course load reduction) is an option for the qualified candidate
- Summer teaching may be available
- Other duties as assigned
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
Experience and knowledge in all aspects of online
instruction
Effective, timely, and consistent communication with students
enrolled in the program and interested in the program
General Days/Hours:
Monday - Friday
8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.
Additional hours as requested and/or needed
Regular and reliable attendance
Additional student contact hours will be necessary to maintain
effective communication with students

An earned Doctorate in Psychology, or a closely related field,
as of the date of employment
Expertise in a broad range of psychology content
Experience with online instruction preferred
