The Department of French, German, Italian and Slavic of Temple University is pleased to invite applications for a Non-Tenure Track Assistant Professorship in German. Applications are sought from candidates with preparation and experience in technology-assisted instruction and foreign language pedagogy. Preference will be given to candidates with program coordination experience. Online teaching experience also desired. Credentials should contain evidence of best pedagogical practices at the undergraduate level. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, teaching German language and culture courses at all level; teaching literature and cultural studies courses taught in English and General Education courses; assist in coordinating German language courses; directing and leading the Department's faculty-led summer study abroad 4-week program in Leipzig on a bi-annual rotation basis.

The candidate should demonstrate evidence of outstanding commitment to undergraduate teaching. A Ph.D. in hand by August 2019 is required.  The candidate selected for this position should have native or near-native fluency in German and English, and must meet eligibility requirements to work in the United States at the time the appointment is scheduled to begin. Availability to travel in the summer (four weeks) required. Experience working with student organizations and organizing cultural events also desired. The normal teaching load is 12 credit hour per semester (3 or 4 courses). Competitive salary and benefits.
