Instructor: The Department of Health, Physical Education, and Recreation (HPER) at Emporia State University is seeking applicants for the full-time faculty position as a nine month Instructor beginning August 2019 with the possibility of renewal.
Responsibilities:
- Instruction within the Department of Health, Physical Education, and Recreation (HPER). Courses may include: Introductory teaching in physical education and/or health education; coaching education, and lifetime activity courses
- Supervise field-based coaching practicum experiences
- Advise and mentor undergraduate majors in the HPER Department as well as the Coaching Education minor
- Assisting with recruitment and retention of students
- Serve on committees and engage in professional service within the department and college
- Work collaboratively within the department, college, university, profession, and community
- Remain current in HPER/Coaching knowledge, skills and abilities
Experience and Qualifications:
- A completed Master’s degree in Health, Physical Education, Coaching, Kinesiology, or related field of study is required
- K-12 and/or higher education teaching experience
- Ability to be flexible across programs of rapidly changing needs
- Excellent communication (written and oral) and interpersonal skills
Preferred qualifications:
- Experience as a coach or coach educator
- Experience teaching health & wellness, fitness for life, and/or health optimized physical education (HOPE)
- Demonstrated ability to use a variety of athlete/activity monitoring systems
- Use of educational technology to enhance student learning
